About the Mustang Program:

The Southern Rhode Island Mustangs is a non-profit, 501(C)3 organization participating locally in the New England AAU and nationally in the AAU Baseball Organization.

The Mustangs are an independent baseball "organization" that has been competing at the highest level since 2005.  The Mustangs usually form teams at the 12u year and keep them for three years. The goal of the organization is to expose our young men to the highest level of baseball from around New England as well as the country, and we play in tournaments from New England to Florida.  Giving these kids a chance to compete against the best there is and exposing them to championship play gives these players an invaluable experience factor when it's time for high school and college ball.

We loosely call ourselves an "organization" since we are not your typical "organization". We do NOT have paid coaches and our goal is NOT to sign up as many players as possible to write us those team fees checks. We are NOT driven by the need to pay rent or salaries - we are driven to Provide the BEST baseball instructions for our players and the MOST Memorable big games that many of our guys have ever played in.

The Mustangs are based in Rhode Island with players from all over the State of Rhode Island. The Mustangs are entering their fourth season in the NEAAU baseball organization.

The Mustangs were organized in the fall of 2005 with a 12/13 year old team which played in the Little Rhody Baseball League. This team was comprised of local middle school players from North Kingstown, East Greenwich and other surrounding communities. This team improved though out the season and won the Rhode Island State Championship Tournament. Many of these players have advanced to playing on High School Teams in the area with the knowledge and skills learned with through this experience.

The 2005 team was the base of the 2006 13U Mustang team which played in the AAU Nationals in Myrtle Beach, SC. Starting play in April of 2006, the 13U team was an unknown through-out New England but at the end of July with an over-all record of 48-12 these Mustangs were well known ad the Southern RI Baseball Club was an organization that many wanted on their schedule.

Also organized in 2006 was a 12U team which got together through out the winter preparing for the coming season. 10 of these player as 6th graders were prepared for their Middle School try0outs and not only made the teams at their schools but actively contributed to their teams successes.

The 12U Mustangs played a non conflicting schedule with the local Little League finishing with a 21-1 record against NEAAU opponents.

The Fall of 2006 brought more fun and excitement as the Mustangs returned to the Little Rhody league and defended its title.

In the spring of 2007 the Mustangs put 4 teams into the NEAAU Baseball League, a 12U, two 13U and a 14U teams. As in the "Field of Dreams", if you build it they will come, the Mustangs in 2007 had players from 12 different RI Communities ( NK, SK, EG, EWG, Warwick, Coventry, Middletown, West Warwick, Portsmouth, Narragansett, Cranston and Richmond)

The 12U team went to Cooperstown finishing 5th out of 24 teams during a very exciting week. The 13U Blue team and the 14U Mustangs went to the AAU Nationals.

Over a short period of time the Mustangs have made their mark on Southern RI Baseball. 3 Players have made the National AAU Tournament teams. Many are now major contributors on their local High School teams.

Mission Statement:
It is the goal of this organization to create an environment that will allow the players to realize their capabilities as baseball players; to develop confidence, self esteem and poise as athletes; to understand that their achievements are a direct result of their efforts; to cultivate life-long friends among their teammates, and to support each other in all situations and to understand that sportsmanship, not showmanship, is the major ingredient in playing with class.

"Building Character Through Competition"

The primary goal of the Southern Rhode Island Baseball Club is to develop baseball players for high school baseball and beyond, through playing competitive amateur baseball at the highest possible level. We endeavor to achieve our goal by building character through  teaching the value of a strong work ethic, commitment to a goal, good sportsmanship, teamwork, and the promotion of a winning attitude. We, as Coaches, stress the "right way to play the game" through teaching the fundamentals and respect for the rich heritage of the game of baseball as well as each other. With the Southern Rhode Island Baseball Club, success is the result of "building character though competition."

We feel the benefit of teaching such values will produce resilient young men of outstanding moral character with a solid foundation of life-skills with which to grow into quality role models for youth of the future.
