12U Mustangs in Cooperstown

Mustangs went 6-0 in pool play. Finished 15th out 103 teams , hit 17 home runs and only allowed 4.5 runs scored against us per game.

They played awesome - Great Job Coach McNeil

Mustangs: ABL CHAMPIONS!!!

The Southern RI Mustang College Select 18U team completed a successful Fall Season by winning their second Championship of the fall and finishing with an overall record of 28 - 2.

Behind the strong pitching of David Boelter (NKHS 09) and solid defense, the Mustangs capitalized on excellent base-running and timely hitting as they won the 2008 ABL World Series with a 3-2 victory over the Ramblers. The Ramblers a perennial powerhouse in the ABL and NEAAU proved to be a very tough opponent.

The Mustangs scored the first run of the game in the third as  Sean Gilman (CHARIHO 10) hit a two out double to extend the inning and scored on a single by Eddie Apice (NKHS 10).In the fourth the Mustangs scored again as Zach Myers (NKHS 09) walked and advanced to third on an over-throw to second on a stolen base attempt and scored on a two out single by David Dwyer (Coventry HS 10).

In the sixth Chris Kervin (NKHS 10) singled to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a wild-pitch, stole third and scored on a passed ball for the Mustangs 3rd run.

Boelter worked into the ninth inning, striking out 11, when the Ramblers finally strung a couple of hits together scoring their first run on back to doubles by Agulia ad Rodeles. At this point Apice entered the game with one out. The Ramblers Medieros hit another single scoring their second run. With none out and a runner on second Apice struck out one batter for the second out. Adding to the drama Cardoza of the Ramblers walked on a full-count. Messier hit an infield single loading the bases.

MUSTANGS advance to ABL World Series

The Mustangs College Select team advanced to the World Series of the Autumn Baseball League with a hard fought series victory over a very talented Rhode Island Baseball Institute (RIBI) team.
RIBI won he first game on Saturday morning 16-1 over the top seeded Mustangs as they scored 10 runs in the second inning and cruised to an easy win. The Mustangs rebounded in the afternoon  session as they scored 10 runs of their own in the second inning of game 2. RIBI battled back as they hit 4 home-runs in the game but came up short 14-6.
In the final game played Sunday the Mustangs played extremely well jumped out to a 2-0 lead capitalizing on RIBI mistakes. RIBI mounted a rally in the 5th inning scoring 4 runs to take a 4-2 lead.
The Mustangs batting i the top of the 6th loaded he bases with no outs and David Northup hit a Grand Slam to give the Mustangs a 6-4 lead. Northup closed out the final 2 innings striking out 3 batters to secure the Mustangs berth in the ABL World Series>

The Mustangs will host the first 2 games of the best out of 3 series on Saturday November 15th at Lischio Field in North Kingstown. Game 1 will start at 10:00AM.

The purpose of Mustang U is to standardize the training and development of our players at the 12U level through our newly developed 18U team.

The 12U Mustang team combined with the 13U Red Mustang team and played in the highly competitive Little Rhody Fall League. This was an excellent experience for the younger players as it was their first experience on the larger diamond.
